Open Innovation Efforts Gaining Traction at Indian University

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a prestigious venture to raise quality standards of Indian products to attract capital and technological investment in India.  The initiative is called ‘Make in India’.
According to The New Indian Express, The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell at Cochin College of Engineering and Technology is being launched this week.  The Cell is aimed at developing entrepreneurial culture and fostering growth of innovation and entrepreneurship among students as well as faculty. Its focus is to equip students with skills, which make them eligible for a wide range of career opportunities offered by global undertaking such as ‘Make in India’.
Cochin College provides students with industry-integrated training and ensure that they get valuable hands-on experience. The college also facilitates entrepreneurship ventures by its students.  The college maintains an exclusive association with startup village, a business incubator that focuses primarily on student startups and fosters collaboration through an open innovation learning environment.
